Floatation Suspension

The Floatation Suspension, designed by Maurer in 1980, is a pendant light featuring Japanese paper shades that deliver soft, ambient illumination. Three handcrafted shades are suspended by slender metal cables, with a red iron ring serving as both an accent and a counterweight for adjustable height. The crinkled texture of the paper is an intentional design feature, and the material responds to changes in humidity, potentially affecting the rigidity of the shades.
